Men - Join Us at Pastor Phillip's Driveway every

Stuart FL (turn off of Palm City cutoff road)
We are currently studying the Book of Romans:

Welcome to the 'Band of Brothers' Men's Ministry

The Stuart
First United Methodist Church has an exciting and burgeoning
Men’s Ministry. It refers to itself as: “The Band of
Brothers”. It meets on Tuesday evenings in the
driveway of Pastor Phillip's parsonage: 520 SW North Carolina Drive
The
gathering was supposed to meet in the garage, but even by
the first meeting it spilled out into the driveway. But
what resulted from the discussion and the challenges was a
great fellowship. And it’s still going strong every
Tuesday
night starting at 7:00pm sharp till about 8:30pm.

Methodist Men's Retreat Oct 23-25, 2009

Standing (left-right): Bob Kemmerer, Hank
Koll, Judd Minear, Bill Deen, Pastor Phillip Short, Larry
Butcher, Scott Zechial, Rob Simpkins, Hugo Unruh
Kneeling (left-right): John Fleming, Clarence

Bob Fisher, Mark Vallejo, Don Juedes, Dave Deen, Dan Petit, Jack Iarrobino
The men have
learned that their masculine presence is needed and missed
from the church. The men also learned about how they came
alive when the language of challenge was spoken to them.
The men have since taken on challenges to do mission and
evangelism work as close as the church’s own property
(mending damaged fences) and as far away as Pahokee where
they have made repairs to hurricane damaged churches and
houses. The men are receiving an ever-enriching vision of
how God can use them for Kingdom purposes.
They have recently
studied "The Message - The Bible in
Contemporary Language", authored by Eugene Peterson.

The Band of
Brothers would like to invite all men of all ages to come
and join them for discussion and challenge on Tuesday
evenings at 7:00pm. You will be sure to meet a group of men
who are very real and genuine. They will put on no airs
whatsoever. They will talk about the blessings of walking
with God. They will be honest about their struggles as
well. If you have a vision of a group of tired, discouraged
men who do not have a zest for life, the Band of Brothers
will wonderfully disappoint you. We range in ages from 18
to 95! The younger really look up to and respect the
elders. The elders really appreciate and encourage the
contribution of the young. All challenge one another to
realize all that God has for them and live out the adventure
that God has created and called men to live.
We recommend
that you call the church office at 287-6262 and let us know
that you would like to attend. We’ll get you a copy of the
book currently being studied. We’ll tell you what part of
the book that we’re working on. Bring a lawn chair, reading
glasses and a small flashlight to the parsonage on Tuesday
night. We’ll be drinking Gatorade or bottled water if the
weather is hot. We’ll be drinking coffee if the weather is
cold. We’ll have tiki torches burning around us if it’s
buggy. We’ll have a fire going inside the circle if it’s
cold. We’ll be crowded inside of the garage if it’s
raining.

“Rev. Bobby Gale is a graduate of The Candler
School of Theology and an ordained elder in the South Georgia
Conference of the United Methodist Church. The early years of
his ministry were spent as a pastor of local churches and
congregations. But Bobby Gale, and his churches, struggled with
his attraction and calling to the mission field. Bobby had long
said: “I only have two messages: (1) Christ crucified and (2)
get involved in missions.” As a response to this, Bobby Gale
approached his bishop and sought permission and blessings to
enter into the mission field. He founded “Unto the Least of
His” as the agency whose purpose it is to get local churches
involved in mission work. Bobby Gale loves to see churches and
individuals come to newer and deeper life in Christ when they
encounter the blessings of Christ that are discovered through
the giving and serving in missions. Bobby’s ministry has taken
him to hurricane zones in Florida and Louisiana, to drought
stricken areas of sub-Saharan Africa, to impoverished areas of
Central America. He has been and will always be a blessing to
many.”

"The Sage draws us to God. He offers a gift of presence, the
richness of a soul that has lived long with God. "
